Benefits
The “word” of God in Hebrews 4:12 is the “logos” word , or the actual written word of God or the Bible
Cost: something that is lost, damaged, or given up in order to achieve or get something.
Benefit: a good or helpful result or effect.
Our lives today are normally filled with constant activity. So much to do with so little time to do it. In order to get all the things done that we feel we need to, we prioritize. We label each activity as either a high priority or a low priority or it lands somewhere in the middle. To find the proper place for these activities in our list of priorities, We weigh the cost of doing the activity against the benefit we receive from the activity. High cost , low benefit = low priority. Low cost, high benefit=high priority
Today we are going to weigh the cost of being in the Word of God, and there is a cost..The cost of time, maybe the cost of our comfort, cost of sleep. The cost is whatever it is that we must give up in order to spend time in the Word..There are many benefits that come from being in the Word. Today I am going to talk to you about three of these benefits and you will then have to decide for yourself if these benefits outweigh the cost.
