Today we begin a four part sermon series titled, “Toxic.” The fallen world causes us to act and react in ways that are very ungodly. Our actions then can make us feel unworthy. Let me ask you this, do you sometimes feel like you become another miserable excuse for a human being, hiding hateful frustration toward other people? This emotion can be encapsulated in on word, “Resentment.” In this first sermon we will look at Mosses from the Old Testament and how resentment changed his destiny. When we learn to overcome resentment we stand on the threshold of redemption. We will learn how to stop struggling against feelings and emotions of resentment, but rather to observe them calmly from a distance. In this process we discover the secret of God’s grace and His power to drive back the sufferings in your life. When we do not resent, we are submitting to God. When we resent, we are turning our back on God and submitting to the spirit behind the cruelty. Like James says “Submit yourselves therefore to God.” How do we do this?
